Native Music and Pow-wow Songs

Earth Drums
The heartbeat of Mother Earth is the rhythm heard here. The drum conveys a feeling of stability, security and plenitude. This atmosphere allows better concentration and sharpens the powers of perception. Thus, the drum makes easier all study, meditation, dance, physical exercises and any work that requires concentration such as shamanic journeying. These two renderings of Earth Drums last a half hour each. There are a few very short vocals and rattles on Ceremony. Shamanic Journey is just straight drumming by the hand held and water drums.

Painted Horse
The Painted Horse singers come from Cree, Blood, Blackfoot, Peigan and Tsuii Tina Nations. Most started singing with their grandfathers, fathers and other respected singers at very young ages. The Painted Horse singers joined together for the love of Pow-wow. The name Painted Horse was chosen because of the war pony and also because the horse trot sounds like the music. Their singing and drumming has been heard across Canada and the USA where they have sung in contests as well as hosting various pow-wows. In 1995 they placed in the top 10 in the contemporary category at the world championships in Connecticut.
