Indian War Lance

Assiniboine War Lance
Made of highly polished wood, Indian lances were often decorated with eagle feathers mounted on a strip of deerskin in such a way that they streamed on the wind as the warrior carried the lance, and yet no easily bent or broken. Two type of lances were used on the Plains, the hunting lance and the war lance.
Here we have a long war lance with hand forged blade securely mounted with wapiti raw hide. The lance is decorated with beadwork, feathers and silk ribbons. Approx. 215 cm.
